National Federation of the Blind (NFB) of Utah Website Link

The NFB of Utah is an affiliate of the National Federation of the Blind. They are a great resource in providing support to blind individuals of all ages, their families, teachers, and professionals in the field of blindness.

*Local Chapters: As of October 2011, there are six chapters throughout the state that meet at least once a month.

*Annual State Convention: The NFB of Utah also holds a convention once a year, typically held in the Spring each year.

*Parent/Educator Support: The Utah Parents of Blind Children seeks to create a climate of opportunity for blind children in home, school and society; to provide information and support to parents of blind children; to facilitate the sharing of experiences and concerns among parents of blind children; to develop and expand resources available to parents and their blind children; to help parents of blind children gain understanding and perspective through partnership and contact with blind adults; and to function as an integral part of the National Federation of the Blind and the National Organization of Parents of Blind Children in their ongoing efforts to eliminate discrimination and prejudice against the blind and to achieve for the blind security, equality and opportunity.

*Student Support: The Utah Association of Blind Students supports college students throughout the state. NFB of Utah Project STRIVE provides quality programs to meet the unique needs of blind and visually impaired youth (ages 13-26) throughout Utah. All of the programs are instructed by positive, educated, blind adults who are fully dedicated to model, mentor, encourage, and teach life, education, and employment readiness skills. These skills, along with a positive attitude toward blindness is absolutely critical for blind and visually impaired youth to transition successfully as adults.
