Beep baseball was invented in 1964 by Charlie Fairbanks. He was a telephone company worker in Denver who wanted his visually-impaired daughter to play with other children.

The first World Series of Beep Baseball was held in September 1975 in St. Paul, Minn. The St. Paul Gorillas beat the Phoenix Thunderbirds 36-27.
