Free White Cane Program Link

The National Federation of the Blind (NFB) believes that independence and freedom to travel are so important to the quality of life of blind people that every blind person should have a cane, regardless of ability to pay.

The NFB is giving, free of charge to the user, straight fiberglass canes. The canes are available in the following lengths: 25, 27, 29, 31, 33, 35, 37, 39, 41, 43, 53, 55, 57, 59, 61, and 63 inches. Note: The NFB suggests choosing a cane length which is eight inches shorter than the cane user.

Any blind individual in the fifty states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico may request a cane for their personal use. Requests may be made as often as every six months.

This is so cool. Just a pitty that i'm in South Africa! If the cae length comes up to the user's chin or nose, that's the perfect length.
Just an exstra bit to feel around.
He/she can walk around relaxing their arm a bit.
